Hi Gang:
Hope everyone is well and dry. We are having a spring day in the Dale. Very wet and windy.
I did a run to the Height's quarry for powder this morning, then a delivery to the mud pit we call home. I drove up to find a safe in the road and sawdust everywhere. Dave had managed to borrow a steel saw to open the stubborn safe with, so first thing in the morning they did some safe cracking. Safes usually have some sort of insulation material between the inner and outter walls of the safe, but none of us had ever seen sawdust. Definitely not a fire proof safe.
I then went to the Dales Centre where I saw Marie Land and caught up with the local rock world. It was raining buckets by now. Then to Fairless' to check on supplies. Then to Featherstone's to return the safe cracking saw. By the time I got home it was exceptionallysoggy outside. Even the ducks were battening down the hatches, except for the baby chicks who were out and about. Mama duck looked disgusted but she followed them around the yard. I dived into the garage and began working on our loot. Bill is due on Friday. Byron and crew are blasting and cleaning the tunnels. Byron is waiting to have at the newly cleared out areas of the mine. Basically, we are proceeding as usual.
By the way there is nothing worse and miserable looking than a wet rooster. There is a great big one here. The hens pick on him. Mind you he is twice as large as the hens, but this doesn't seem to matter. Today when the rain really started coming down, the hens all gathered under the car, but the rooster was chased out by the hens. He then tried to hide under my work table, but there is a shelf there so he sat in the rain getting wetter by the second. He was rather pathetic looking. As soon as it dries up he ruffles up and dries out. Once again marching across the yard.
Hope all is safe in the world.
Cheers,
Jonina and Byron.
